19th Century Solid Mahogany Linen Press

£495.00

This antique linen press - sometimes called ‘housekeeper’s cupboards’ - is drop-dead beautiful! It is in fantastic condition for its age (1800s) and is made of solid mahogany wood, not veneer, making it quite the hefty piece. What is striking about this cabinet are the recessed drawer pulls in the chest of drawers at the bottom, which had to have been hand-turned given its age. The open drawers at the top were used for bigger linens, but are perfect for folded sweaters/jumpers and other items you wish to have easy access to.

The press has the two simply designed arched panel doors, which enclosed a fitted interior comprising of three sliding trays and four drawers. But don’t let its simplicity fool you - this is quality made and is quite an understated, elegant piece both then and now.

Its dimensions are as follows: Height 188cm x Width 132cm x Deep 56cm
